Regardless of whether Thor uses an ax or an ax/hammer mix in the film, though, it's clear that he does, indeed, construct a new weapon in Avengers: Infinity War with the help of Groot and Rocket Raccoon. (Somewhere in an alternate universe, Thor might also be the God of Hammers.) Aside from the fact that Marvel tends to borrow heavily from Marvel Comics' Ultimate Universe for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor wielding a weapon that's at least part hammer fits with his overall adoration for hammer-like weapons. While Jarnbjorn was an obvious choice for Thor in Avengers 3, the Ultimate Mjolnir makes the most sense. For someone who's been around as long as Thor has, he's sure used a lot of weapons.
